Watercolor & Botanical Tonics

Slow down and spend a creative afternoon with artist Shannon Courter at MÈLI Mar Vista. This beginner-friendly watercolor workshop is an invitation to step away from the everyday and enjoy a few hours of making something by hand.

You'll learn the fundamentals of watercolor, from controlling water and mixing color to layering and creating texture, all through guided, step-by-step exercises. No experience is necessary, and everything you need is provided.

Shannon will guide you through the process in a relaxed, welcoming setting, so you can focus on experimenting, learning, and enjoying the process. You'll leave with several finished pieces, plus a watercolor starter kit and techniques packet to keep creating at home.

 

We’ll be pouring a curated selection of botanical tonics throughout the afternoon, with a guided tasting of a few of our favorites. Sip, paint, and discover something new while you create.

Shannon Courter is a Los Angeles-based art director, watercolor artist, and calligrapher with over a decade of creative experience. By day she works in graphic design, but her favorite work happens off the screen, with a brush, a pen, and ink-stained fingers. She created her workshops as a space for beginners to slow down, learn the basics, and rediscover the joy of making something by hand.
